JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (LPL) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the field of solar system planetary science. The successful applicant will join the Planetary Atmospheres and Titan & Outer Solar System groups (https://www.lpl.arizona.edu/research) and work in collaboration with Dr. Tommi Koskinen on the analysis and interpretation of Cassini, Voyager, ground-based, and HST observations of the upper atmospheres of Saturn, Titan, and Uranus. These observations provide unprecedented constraints on composition, energy deposition, dynamics, and seasonal change. The results will also support planning for a future mission to Uranus.

The successful applicant will be expected to conduct an independent, high-impact research program, lead the analysis and interpretation of the observations, and write scientific articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The minimum qualifications are a PhD in planetary science, astronomy, or a related field and a proven track record of research. Candidates with experience with statistical data analysis and radiative transfer modeling of planetary atmospheres are preferred.

Interested candidates should apply to Job Posting req27228 at https://talent.arizona.edu/. Applicants are expected to submit a cover letter (1 page), curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests highlighting past achievements and future plans (up to 3 pages), and contact details for two references.

Outstanding UArizona benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; access to UArizona recreation and cultural activities; and more! See https://www.lpl.arizona.edu/postdoc/ for more information on postdoctoral research at LPL.
