JOB DESCRIPTION

(Posted to the Lunar-L list)

Hi all,

I'd like to spread the word that I am interested in recruiting highly motivated students interested in Lunar and Planetary Science to join my lab group, the Florida Planets Lab, in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida at either the MSc or PhD level in Fall 2027.

I am interested in students with a strong interest in sample-based planetary petrology and in working with lunar samples. Projects for new students could include research on the origin and history of basaltic lunar meteorites and implications for the lunar interior and the thermal evolution of the Moon, but I am also happy to discuss other project ideas with excellent students with broad interests in planetary petrology, geochemistry, experimental petrology, and isotope geochemistry. Students with undergraduate or MSc research experience in these areas would be particularly competitive. Funding could include either a teaching assistant (TA) position or a research assistant (RA) position depending on the outcome of pending and future funding proposals.

Interested students should contact me (selardo@ufl.edu), describe their research interests, relevant experience, and motivations for pursuing a graduate degree, and provide a CV. More information about the UF Dept. of Geological Sciences, our faculty and facilities, and our graduate program can be found here: https://geology.ufl.edu/.

Cheers,

Steve Elardo
