JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Remote Sensing of Earth and Planetary Systems with an expected start date of August 16, 2027. Advanced remotely-sensed geophysical data (e.g., gravity, laser, radar, GNSS, magnetic, imaging spectroscopy, imaging/stereo imaging) collected with ground-, air-, and space-based sensors are essential to studies of terrestrial and/or planetary processes and properties. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor students for M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, and conduct a dynamic, externally funded research program in an area of Remote Sensing of Earth and/or Planetary Systems.
Available resources include state-of-the-art departmental Research Facilities, the Nanoscale Research Center, the UF Water Institute , the HiPerGator supercomputer and the UF AI Informatics Research Institute . Additionally, the UF Astraeus Space Institute supports and connects researchers in space science across the state. Astraeus also offers access to an on-campus Missions Operations Center for supporting in-space activities and missions.
For full consideration, applications must be submitted online at http://explore.jobs.ufl.edu/cw/en-us/listing/. Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a summary of current and future research plans, an overview of teaching experience and goals, and the names and contact information of three references. The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on November 1, 2026; the position will remain open until filled. Inquiries can be directed to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Courtney Sprain (csprain@ufl.edu).
