JOB DESCRIPTION
The Planetary Research Cooperative is looking for motivated volunteers to serve as Media Coordinators.
The Planetary Research Cooperative is a non-profit organization that supports the dissemination of scientific research in the field of planetary science. We publish the diamond open access journal Planetary Research and provide several services to the planetary science community, all free of charge.
We are seeking motivated volunteers who believe in the mission of our association to join our media team and serve as Media Coordinators. Members of our media team would help promote the association’s activities and would be expected to help in one or more of the following tasks:
- Posting of news events to our social media accounts on Bluesky and Mastodon.
- Contacting and interacting with Planetary Research authors about publishing summaries of their work on the Planetary Research Blog.
- Posting of job announcements to our jobs platform.
- Choosing images and writing captions for the covers of new Planetary Research issues.
- Maintaining the content of the association's websites.
- Moderating user submissions to our video server.
- Developing tutorials for how to use the internet services the association provides.
- Developing promotional materials for the association.
No prior experience is required, and we encourage Ph.D. students, postdocs, and early career scientists to apply. Media Coordinators who show leadership skills may be asked to chair the media team, which would give them a seat on the association's Board of Directors.
To apply, please send a letter of motivation to Julia Maia. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, but only those applications received by October 1 will be given full consideration.
