Job Description
We seek a colleague who investigates the chemical, mineralogical, and physical composition of the solid Earth and its interactions with other Earth systems. We welcome candidates whose interdisciplinary research integrates geological observations with analytical, experimental, and/or theoretical approaches and complements existing strengths in the department. Candidates should demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement and an original research program with strong potential to attract external funding.
The selected candidate will provide supervision and mentorship to a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students and contribute to field-, laboratory-, and classroom-based teaching by delivering courses in mineralogy, petrology, and other topics in their field of expertise. All McGill faculty are expected to engage in service activities within their unit, the university, and the broader scholarly community.
The application should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, the names and email addresses of three references, a 1–2 page research statement that outlines the candidate’s past research accomplishments and proposed research program at McGill, and a 1–2 page teaching statement that describes the candidate’s teaching philosophy, experience, and how their teaching interests align with the EPS academic programs. The applicant should include their strategies for embedding principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion into their research program, and student instruction and mentorship.
