Planetary Research Jobs

The Astrophysics Research Center of the Open University of Israel (ARCO) invites applications for two postdoctoral research positions in exoplanet astrophysics. The successful candidates will work with Prof. Allona Vazan on modelling planetary interiors, as well as develop their own independent research projects. The field of interior modelling of extra-solar and solar-system planets is rapidly progressing, driven by a wealth of new data from cutting-edge space missions and ground-based telescopes.

A background in thermodynamics, high-pressure material properties, or planetary chemistry is considered a distinct advantage for these roles. Experience in numerical simulations and/or statistical and computational techniques is highly desirable. Candidates must hold a PhD in astronomy, physics, planetary science, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.

The postdoctoral researchers will have the freedom to choose their preferred working arrangement, with options to split time in a hybrid format, or work entirely in-person at ARCO in Israel. The initial term of the position is for two years, with a renewal for a third year conditional on performance. The successful candidates can begin as soon as possible, but no later than the Fall of 2027.
